Lake Washington, Le Sueur County, MN
Lake Washington is located primarily in Le Sueur County, with a small part of the lake in Blue Earth County, approximately 10 miles from Mankato. The lake is one of the largest in southern Minnesota at 1487 acres with 13.2 miles of shoreline. Lake Washington has approximately 450 homes and countless visitors. Presently 80 percent of the residents live on the lake full time. Fishing and water sports are major activities on the lake. Washington is the favorite of many fishermen because of the many Crappies, Bass, Northern Pike, and Walleye in the lake. There are two public access ramps on the lake for launching boats.
The lake is the home of Camp Patterson that has provided a lake experience for young boys and girls since 1923. The Kiwanis Club of Mankato operates the camp. Westwood Marina Bar and Grill provides a wonderful atmosphere to relax and enjoy a wonderful view of the lake activities.
In the year 2005 Lake Washington properties were connected to the Mankato sanitary sewer system. This system will help to control pollution in the lake and improve the lake for all residents.
The Lake Washington Improvement Association's board of directors meet monthly. This association is the voice of and advocate for lakeshore owners. Your participation and support makes the LWIA even stronger. Please review our recent newsletters for timely and important information about what the LWIA is doing on your behalf. Storm Warning System
A Storm Warning System was installed on Connor's Point on November 1, 2005. Funding for the system was provided by the Lake Washington Improvement Association, and the Connors Point Cooperative Association provided the property for the location of the system.
The system will be tested on the first Wednesday of every month. If a severe storm or tornado is spotted by trained observers, LeSueur County will activate the Lake Washington warning system. We hope that the new system will provide a more safe environment for Lake Washington home owners and fishermen on the lake.
