Autumn is here!

Autumn has arrived, along with preparations for winter. Boats, lifts, and docks are coming out. This is a good time to check your shoreline for debris and refuse that may have floated in. Please do not rake or blow leaves into the lake, as this provides additional fuel for our algae blooms. As of October 15, 2026 the lake level is 981.1 (below the DNR established level of 981.5 ft.).

Here is a recap of our annual meeting this year
Approximately 95 people enjoyed a light meal provided by Jonny B's. Our speakers this year were Shannon Gullickson of Camp Patterson, who shared updates on the facility and discussed its future. We also heard from Trevor Fellows of the MN DNR Fisheries Department, who spoke about the Lake Washington stocking program and shared tips on keeping geese off shorelines while improving lake quality.
We also elected directors for the even-numbered areas, along with replacements for directors who have stepped down. Our new and continuing directors are:
-
Area 2: Kent Reeves and Karen Wright agreed to continue until a resident from Area 2 steps forward.
-
Area 4: Chuck Brandel agreed to continue and nominated Steve Kaitz as a director.
-
Area 6: Wade Baumberger and Jason Femrite were reelected.
-
At-Large: Becky Beyer remains, and Rich Draheim (from Area 3) was nominated to fill Harlan Mehlhop's seat until an at-large candidate steps forward.
And thank you to the anonymous donor that paid four our meal this year. your generosity is appreciated!
Also many thanks to Harlan Mehlhop and Nicki Vieth, who have stepped down!
The beaver dam is back!
In May of this year a beaver dam was built across the existing outlet control structure. This was removed by LeSueur County and Selly's excavation.

Then in August, a "mud dam" was discovered about 25 yards upstream from the outlet control structure. This was removed shortly thereafter by unknown people.

On a kayak ride to the outlet on October 12 it was discovered that the dam is back and bigger than ever! At this point the lake level is low enough so there is really no effect on the lake levels, but this will be something to watch. It seems the beaver has not been caught!
